01

The problem

Quest Academy is part of Quest Med Co. They run courses and workshops for medical students and wanted all of it in one place, events too. A student had to be able to pay online, get through the lessons and walk away with a certificate.

02

What I built

I built the public site in both languages first. Then came the student portal and the admin pages behind it. Students watch their lessons in the portal and earn XP for finishing them. Streaks and badges work off the same rules. The admin team has a KPI dashboard. Every Quest certificate has its own public page, so anyone handed one can check it's real.

How it works

  1. Payments go through Paymob. When Paymob tells us a payment cleared, the message must carry a valid signature, so a forged one can't unlock a course.
  2. The XP and badge rules live in database triggers, which means the browser can't hand itself points.
  3. Row-level security is on for every table. A student's account reads that student's rows and nobody else's.
  4. Lessons stream from Mux, and emails go out through Resend.
